PERSON PROFILE
My research and teaching focus on the social-psychological and organizational antecedents of entrepreneurial behavior (the exploration and exploitation of opportunities) within existing companies. Academics call this phenomenon “corporate entrepreneurship”, while practitioners prefer the term “intrapreneurship”.Regardless of the term used, entrepreneurial behavior within companies is a complex process where two forces meet. From the top-down, companies design initiatives and systems to nudge, while monitoring, employees toward entrepreneurial behavior. From the bottom-up, employees do not homogeneously engage in the pursuit of entrepreneurial opportunities on the behalf of their employers as their motivation and risk-taking propensity varies significantly. Understanding how an appropriate balance is achieved to lead to the pursuit of opportunities in a sustainable way keeps me intrigued!BACKGROUND
